“International English” used by non-native speakers is destroying the English language.
I’m into minds about this. I agree up to a point that English is being destroyed by non-native speakers because they tend to add some modifications into the language based on their mother tongue. But there’s no way that language could get destroyed completely by non-native speakers. Languages are prompt to change in grammatical and vocabulary aspects. As long as the language is spoken by people and is widely used. Personally, I think it won’t get demolished it’s natural for a language to fluctuate and change over time.
I've got mixed feelings about this too. You're spot on that non-native speakers change the language and not all the time these changes can be for the better.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, any language is such a system that can take any word and make it sound original. At first, they sound unnatural but then they assimilate and have even phonetic, grammatical and semantic features of the new language. So I agree up to a point that all languages change and it's really hard to destroy a language especially when it is the international one.
