Global Language by YAROSLAVA SVIDINSKAYA

It seems to me a bit upsetting and weird that people living on the same planet still can’t understand each other.

In my opinion, the absence of a common language, which can be spoken by every person in the world, is the source of a huge number of problems. Starting from basic difficulties for travelers to political and economic conflicts and even wars.

Language is the main way of communication for people, so what kind of communication can exist between people who speak different languages?
I’m very glad that nowadays English is becoming a global language and more and more people learn it.

Some people say that English, as a global language, is killing other cultures and diversity in general. Though I don’t think that this can in any way destroy diversity, because every person and culture will always have its own uniqueness.

In my opinion, getting a global language is a natural and inevitable step in human evolution.

  2. I also think that the international language can bring people together, for example, we can meet people from completely different countries on the Internet and still understand each other and even joke and love.

  3. You are spot on! I’m absolutely agree that there’s no reason to worry about the lack of diversity as each person is unique naturally. We live in the 21st century and like talking about our level of development as humanity. But at the same time we still hold on the past and try to preserve all existing traditions and customs, some of which are out of date and do not make any sense. There were so many wars and skirmishes because each country tried to prove its uniqueness, the uniqueness of its people and culture. So, I’m sure that if we really want to be proud of living in the 21st century, we should get rid of all prejudices and thoughts that this or that country is more unique that another one. Having one common language will help people build connections and relationships. I agree with every word you’ve written!

    1. I am afraid that if all people speak the same language, it will not save us from umteen wars. For one thing countries will stop proving its uniqueness but for another thing , unfortunately, they will always fight for leadership and power !

    2. I agree that speaking one language won't let us get rid of all the problems but it will be a step on the path of evolution of humanity.

  5. I'm in two minds about this, actually. In my opinion, language diversity is essential in a thousand different ways but just imagine logging on to the Internet and seeing billions of people speaking the same language, discussing the same problems, and sharing their opinions on the same issues! Sounds incredibly overwhelming, I have to be honest here. I also don't think that human beings can handle that amount of information and acquaintances! (By the way, languages are awesome and learning them is a lot of fun)

  6. I'm a bit discombobulated. Because, on the one hand, one common language is a great way to make life easier for everyone on the planet and to finally communicate successfully. But on the other hand, we are losing our identity and becoming all bearers of the same culture...
