"I don't want to study languages ever again!"

It's true, studying languages can a pain in the neck! That's why I believe that we have to change our perspective on language learning in general.

First, it's important to adore the language you're learning. Too often people simply start studying a language because it's "important" or "fashionable" and it's simply not the road you want to choose. I'd say it's vital that you love the language you're studying so if the language you're learning currently is not the language you want to speak 24/7 then you might have a problem on your hands!

Then, oftentimes people view language learning as a tedious process of trying to get to grips with grammar, memorize as many new words as possible, and, of course, get a certificate that says you've learned a language. Truth be told, languages are meant to come with culture. They are meant to be studied through art, and literature, and music, and communication. So if you truly want to work on your language, immerse yourself in it and see how fast those long-awaited results come!

So what do you think? Have you chosen the right language to study? Are you simply learning it or are you immersed in it enjoying every second of the process of studying?

  1. I absolutely agree!! I adore the languages I learn and I can’t imagine how hard and boring it could be to study languages that you don’t love
