English as the dominant world language.

The idea of having the dominant world language is brilliant at least for me. There are several reasons that make me think this way.

First of all, speaking one language allows people to communicate easily even if they are from different parts of the planet. Another advantage is that there will be less misunderstanding that sometimes leads to creating false stereotypes about nations. Eventually, if we talk about English, this language is not so complicated as, for instance, Chinese or Russian. So, you can master the language in the shortest possible time without spending much of it.

Of course, some native speakers worry about the uniqueness of their language and culture. Actually, I don’t care about that. It’s much more important for me when people are good at finding common ground and can interact properly.

  1. I'm in two minds about this. I agree up that one language helps people to clear up some misunderstanding and makes international communication easier. However, in my opinion, English doesn't seem that simple for people of other language families. It's easier just for Europeans.

  2. I've got mixed feelings about this. Reasonably, if all people speak the same language then the culture will become greatly poor. It's true that there will be less misunderstanding but we won't also be able to enrich our knowledge with the cultures and traditions of other countries. Мoreover, all countries will lose their linguistic uniqueness and that's nonsense.

  3. I am glad that the international language of communication is English because it is much easier than German or Chinese, for example. I don't think that the dominance of English hinders the development of other languages, because every language is a big cultural world. For example, English is unlikely to supplant the value of French literature or German philosophy.

  4. In this case I agree with Natyio. But in addition to culture, we also damage rich history, because language also reflects the history of its speakers. Are we all going to turn into Englishmen?
