Lack of Confidence in Speaking English Language

You’ve been studying English for 10 years, you’ve watched thousands of videos and read hundreds of books, you even have some english-speaking pen-friends you chat with day and night. And then, when meeting somewhere a native-speaker, the only thing you can say is “How do you do?”. Why is it so?

Well, the answer is actually simple: you are not confident about yourself speaking English in front of people. You are afraid of making mistakes, nervous and anxious that other people would look at you with disdain because of an accent or mispronounced words.

Basically, your fear of being “ashamed” is quite natural. The idea is to overcome that shyness and your concerns about being misunderstood and mocked. Start the conversation in the way you are used to, do not focus on tiny mistakes and do not remain silent. Actually, once you are into conversation, you won't really care about your speech at all.

Good practice of language with native speakers can replace several years of cramming this inanimate dialogues in your textbook, so don’t be shy and explore the English-speaking world.
